The report in the Standard says that results and performances must improve under the Portuguese man, and that the board believes the side should be playing more attractive football and be higher than their current standing of sixth in the Premier League table having spent £110m on players during the summer transfer window.

Left-back Danny Rose has suffered a minor setback on his road to recovering from a foot injury. Andre Villas-Boas said that he has picked up a minor injury on his quad but should be back in training before Saturday’s match with Sunderland.
