With the January transfer window coming up, Mohamed Salah of Basel is expected to be a player in demand.
Tottenham are one of the sides that are tracking the Egypt international, with the African attacker thought to be a player that Andre Villas-Boas is weighing up to solve their problem area on the left-wing.
However, reports today in Germany are suggesting that Bayern Munich are ready to enter the race to sign the highly rated Basel wideman.
Bild claim that Pep Guardiola is ready to move for Salah at the end of the season, as his performances in the Champions League have caught the Spanish coach’s attention.
Basel are reluctant to sell their star man mid-season, while Bayern have stated that they will not be adding anyone to their squad in January.
The Bavarian giants’ interest will come as a blow for Spurs, with the pull of the German side sure to turn Salah’s head.
What may also come as an advantage is the fact that Bayern have signed one of Basel’s brightest stars in the recent past, in the form of Xherdan Shaqiri.
The Swiss winger has been in and out of the Bayern side since his move to the Allianz Arena in 2012.
However, Bayern’s relationship with Basel and stature in the European game will mean that if they move for Salah, Spurs could well lose out on a major transfer target.
