Transfer Bin: Tottenham's Etienne Capoue to Roma

Transfer Bin

Tottenham star involved in the day's most unlikely rumour?

Welcome to the Transfer Bin: The place where we select the very worst transfer rumours of the day and throw them out... hopefully to never be seen again.

Step forward today's garbage, reports that AS Roma are to launch a January bid for Etienne Capoue.

That's right, the same Etienne Capoue who only signed for Tottenham Hotspur back in August.

Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport report the rumours, with it written that coach Rudi Garcia knows the player well from his time managing in Ligue 1.

Beyond that there is very little to go on, apart from speculative attempts to make it seem more likely because Franco Baldini is now at Tottenham.

Not that we think Baldini's generosity towards his old club will extend to selling one of his own summer signings to them, admitting he made a mistake.

And there lies the real issue, Capoue can't even be considered a bad signing, nor a good one yet - because he has barely had a chance due to injury.

When he has played he has found himself back on the bench soon after, and the Frenchman is still waiting for a real run in the side.

Tottenham will want to give their new signing a couple of seasons at least to see how he gets on, this is a player remember who did not have the benefit of a pre-season with the club.

The report is speculative at best, with no quotes nor any indication from the player is unhappy.

If Roma, who were previously linked with his teammate Sandro, want to buy in January, we are pretty sure Daniel Levy will tell them to look elsewhere, unless they are interested in a striker named Emmanuel Adebayor.

Rubbish rating: Absolute non-starter!
