Manchester City latest: Including confirmed team news and no January sales

West Brom The Hawthorns

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

As Manchester City prepare to face West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns tonight, Blues manager Manuel Pellegrini has sprung a surprise or two.

Below is the team he has chosen to face the Baggies this evening:

Starting XI: Pantilimon, Zabaleta, Kompany, Demichelis, Kolarov, Fernandinho, Toure, Navas, Nasri, Aguero, Dzeko

Subs: Hart, Lescott, Richards, Garcia, Rodwell, Negredo, Milner

In other news, Sky Sports reports that Pellegrini has no intention of allowing any of his current squad to leave in January.

Questions have been asked about the futures of a whole host of City players in recent weeks – most notably Joe Hart, Edin Dzeko and Micah Richards – but according to the Chilean they are going nowhere.

The squad we have from the beginning is the squad we need, so it would be very strange that one player can go out in January,” the Blues boss said.

He also reaffirmed his belief in both his current goalkeepers, with Joe Hart attempting to wrestle the gloves back from Costel Pantilimon.

They are two important goalkeepers, and I trust in both of them,” Pellegrini said.
