Some football players have a tough time after hanging up their shoes. Only a few make the cut and get a great job in managing or broadcasting. Some face unemployment or worse.
But one seems to have hit the jackpot. Former Everton and Real Madrid defender Thomas Gravesen has reportedly made a fortune after retiring from professional football and is now worth £82.6m.
The 37-year-old former Danish international invested in different businesses and cashed in after retiring for the second time according to tabloid BT from Denmark.
With his £82.6m he is now kicking it back in Las Vegas and enjoying his hobby playing poker, roulette and blackjack according to the Danish daily. Let's just hope he doesn't gamble it all away.
The Mail wrote that Gravesen “was criticized by the Danish press as 'washed up', but he has proven them wrong with his new career venture […]”.
