Manchester United loanee scores first ever professional goal

Manchester United full back Marnick Vermijl bagged his first professional goal whilst on loan with NEC Nijmegen.

Vermijl, 21, arrived at Old Trafford from Standard Liege in 2010, but having made just one appearance for the Red Devils, the Belgium under 21 international was sent out on loan to Dutch side NEC Nijmegen for the season.

And after featuring regularly for the Eredivisie club this term, Vermijl managed to bag his first goal in a 3-2 win over AZ Alkmaar, handing NEC just their second win of the season. With question marks over the future of Rafael, and Phil Jones and Chris Smalling playing out of position at right back, more good displays from Vermijl could put himself into David Moyes' thinking for next season and beyond.
