Sheffield Wednesday and United fans react to Warnock rumours

With Dave Jones sacked, Sheffield Wednesday are on the lookout for a new manager, and a surprise name is in the frame...

The bookmakers have recently made former Sheffield United legend - and Blades fan - Neil Warnock as the favourite to replace Jones at Hillsborough.

Warnock is a lifelong United fan and is still something of a hero at Bramall Lane having guided them to the Premier League, whilst also endearing himself to the fans with some choice words about their Steel City rivals (see Q13 here).

The 65 year old won 165 of his 388 games in charges of the Blades, but left his position after the club were relegated from the Premier League. He has since had successful spells with Crystal Palace and Queens Park Rangers - the latter of which he got promoted with - before a less than fantastic stint with Leeds United. Since leaving the post in April 2013, Warnock has been out of work despite being linked with a number of jobs.

Warnock is now in the frame at Hillsborough after Dave Jones lost his job, with the former Cardiff manager leading Wednesday to just one win this season. With the team rooted in joint-last place in the Championship, Wednesday need a quick turnaround and possibly an experienced head to drag them away from trouble.

Loved by United, hated by Wednesday, the notion of Warnock's appointment has stirred up a lot of emotion between the two sets of fans, and with a lot of differing opinions, here's what is being said on Twitter about the possibility of Warnock taking over the Owls.
