Marco Reus injured his calf and will be sidelined for the upcoming DFB-Cup on Tuesday at FC Saarbrucken. When will he return?
Despite a contract till June 2017 reports about Marco Reus linked to Manchester United for a €35m bid continue to make the news. The 24-year-old, who is also targeted by Barcelona once said to German football magazine kicker:
“I live in the ‘here and now’ and am happy to play for Borussia Dortmund. I'm currently playing in the league more attractive in Europe, I will not go.”
However the release clause in his contract did the rounds and reports are saying that Manchester United apparently dispatched scouts to check out the German international.
Could the love story end before it’s started? German tabloid Bild wrote today that the winger injured his calf and will be sidelined for the upcoming DFB-Cup on Tuesday at FC Saarbrucken. In Borussia Dortmund’s last Bundesliga game against FSV Mainz Reus wasn’t able to continue to play the second half because of his injury.
Reus might not be sidelined too long, but it could be enough to hurt Jurgen Klopp’s team, because of their schedule ahead: After facing FC Saarbrucken, Dortmund will play at home against Bundesliga's second placed Bayer Leverkusen and, on December 11th, at Olympique de Marseille for a ticket to the Champions League knock out round.
A tough schedule ahead with an injured Marco Reus and other player sidelined as well. The recent injuries of Jakub Blaszczykowski, Sven Bender, Nuri Sahin combined with Mats Hummels, Neven Subotic, Ilkay Gundogan and Marcel Schmelzer will grieve Jurgen Klopp to name a solid starting XI.
