Journalist who broke Ozil transfer news - Arsenal ‘big favourites’ to sign €45m wunderkind

Julian Draxler has been linked with a move to Arsenal - by the man who first broke the news about Mesut Ozil arriving at The Emirates.

Jan Aage Fjortoft played for Swindon Town, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Barnsley during his five years in English football - gracing the Premier League during his time with Boro and The Tykes.

A Norwegian international with over 70 caps for the Scandinavian country throughout his 20 year footballing career - the 46-year-old forward ended his playing days outside of his homeland in Germany.

He had three good years with Eintracht Frankfurt before returning to Norway with a move to Stabaek in 2001 - but he has continued to have good links with Germany.

Nowadays he works as a football pundit and reporter for both Norwegian and German television.

And today he has come out with quite an extraordinary revelation via his official Twitter account:

It is not the first time he has linked Draxler to Arsenal - he did the same in the summer, with him suggesting that Lukas Podolski would go the other way.

That didn’t happen - but Fjortoft was one of the very first men to break the news about Mesut Ozil moving to Arsenal from Real Madrid - so he does sometimes get these things very right.

In fact Draxler has even stated a desire to possibly join his German team-mates Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski and Ozil.

This month he said:

"You never know what happens in the summer but Arsenal is a very, very nice team. They always have very young players, they play attractive football and that's what I like.”

He then went on to declare his release clause...
