Mourinho dismissive of £16m and £30m transfer targets

Jose Mourinho denied speculation linking two high profile players from the continent to Stamford Bridge this January in his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea's clash with Southampton.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has dismissed speculation linking Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao to the club and the reports that Jackson Martinez had met with representatives from Chelsea for a move from Porto.

The Daily Mail reported this morning that Mourinho may try and sign Coentrao on-loan with an option to buy in the summer, with some reports indicating that a fee of around £16 could be agreed for the left-back

However, Mourinho told his weekly pre-match press conference that he doesn’t want any more Portuguese players and that his side doesn’t’ need Coentrao, having previously worked with the player at the Spanish giants.

There has been much speculation this week surrounding the future of Porto forward, Jackson Martinez who has been linked with several clubs in the Premier League.

However, a report yesterday indicated that Martinez’s agent had met with officials at Chelsea to thrash out a deal ahead of a move to Stamford Bridge in January.

Porto are said to be after a fee of around £30m to part with the Colombian striker, but Mourinho has said his current set of strikers will see out the season for Chelsea.

Mourinho said: ‘In the January market we’re not going to buy any strikers, we will go to end of the season with Fernando [Torres], Samuel [Eto’o] and Demba [Ba].’
