Manchester City latest: Quadruple injury boost but defender out for three weeks

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City have received both good and bad news in regards to injuries as they build up to the weekend match against Swansea City.

With Vincent Kompany back training with the first-team, manager Manuel Pellegrini has hinted that the Belgian could return for the midweek match against West Bromwich Albion.

And he went on to suggest that both Stevan Jovetic and David Silva could be ready the following week, when the Blues travel to Germany to face Bayern Munich.

However, there was bad news when it came to Matija Nastasic – who Pellegrini suggested would be unavailable for the next three weeks.

Sunday’s match against Swansea could see a return for Jack Rodwell, but the Chilean boss refused to be drawn on whether or not Joe Hart would keep the place he regained against Viktoria Plzen.

In quotes published by Talk Sport, Pellegrini said of Hart, “He had a good performance. We trust a lot in him and we will see who will start on Sunday.”

Given how Costel Pantilimon has performed in Hart’s absence, the Romanian may soon be wondering if he needs to move on to secure regular first-team football.

Then again, it could be Hart sitting on the bench on Sunday…
