Wenger calls for Arsenal to take advantage at Cardiff

Arsene Wenger addressed the media ahead of his Arsenal side's trip to Cardiff City tomorrow afternoon.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants his side to put the pressure on the chasing pack by getting a win at Cardiff City.

The Gunners travel to Cardiff City tomorrow where a win could take them seven points clear at the top of table for a short time at least – with many of the sides close to them either playing later on in the day or on the Sunday.

Speaking at his pre-match conference ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Wales, Wenger said: ‘The players need to keep a good focus at the moment. We want to keep the same level of urgency and hunger and we want to take advantage of playing earlier than our rivals this weekend.’

The Arsenal boss was also asked on the subject of a new contract but seemed relaxed about the situation, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season.

‘I just want to make sure I deliver to this club what they are expecting. The fans don’t need to question my commitment.’

Wenger believes there more to come from midfielder Aaron Ramsey this season. Ramsey is currently having his best season in an Arsenal shirt having scored six Premier League goals so far this season, along with five in Europe.

In terms of team news, Wenger has confirmed that Kieran Gibbs will return to the squad after suffering from illness. He said that Lukas Podolski was another three weeks away from returning to first team action whilst Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the New Year.
