Match to be played on Sunday 1st December 2013 at 14:05. Venue: The KC Stadium, Hull.
Liverpool will be looking to start December in the best possibly way by picking up three points at the KC Stadium on Sunday. Steve Bruce has been bit of a bogey manager for the Reds in the past, but Liverpool will feel the need to take advantage of the friendlier fixtures at the start of the month, and get the win needed here to keep up their pursuit towards the top of the table.
Here is the side that could line up against the Tigers on Sunday.
GK - Simon Mignolet
It’s not often that a goalkeeper can put on an impressive display and concede three goals but that’s what happened with Mignolet last week. He has proved to have been a very good signing in goal so far this season for the Reds.
RB - Glen Johnson
Perhaps didn’t have his best display last weekend but this looks like the type of game when Glen Johnson will get further up the field and really trouble his opposite number. He will be keen to put last week’s disappointing performance behind him.
CB - Martin Skrtel
Skrtel has been in pretty good form this season. He probably had one of his least effective games last weekend, but not many defenders in the Merseyside derby did.
CB - Daniel Agger
Two games on the bounce for Agger to be in the side now and expect Brendan Rodgers to keep his vice-captain in the side for a fairly sustained run.
LB - Jon Flanagan
Flanagan impressed by playing out of position in the Merseyside derby. He even got a round of applause of his teammates in the dressing room afterwards. His performance should be rewarded with another start at the KC Stadium this weekend.
RM - Jordan Henderson
He has energy to burn and that is probably one of the main reasons he has been getting so many plaudits this season. His pressing game has benefited Liverpool hugely this season, and his technical ability has also shone.
DM - Lucas Leiva
It is going to be a tough game in the middle of the park for the Reds so Lucas will have to be on his best form. But he knows how to get stuck into challenges and start the move off for Liverpool. He looks as if he’s getting closer to his very best again.
CM - Steven Gerrard
He was a bit off colour last weekend, but the rest this week will undoubtedly see him refreshed and there won’t be much worry over his hip injury. He did show how good his set-piece delivery was again, though, but he might be a bit more lively in open play this weekend.
LM/CAM - Philippe Coutinho
Having come back from injury only a couple of weeks ago, Coutinho has shown the spark that he does bring to this Liverpool side and the great deal of creativity and trickery he has at his disposal can unlock most defences in the Premier League.
ST - Luis Suarez
He might still have the battle scars of the Merseyside derby on show but Suarez’s great goalscoring record continues this season having struck for the ninth time last weekend. You’d get a very short price on him finding a tenth.
ST - Daniel Sturridge
Despite being left out in the last game, you’d fancy Sturridge to have been well rested this week and raring to go at the KC Stadium this weekend. After grabbing the late equaliser last weekend he’ll be keen to start and get amongst the goals again to add to his tally of nine this season.
