Manchester United's new target will please Everton fans

The Red Devils are looking at making a move for FC Porto left-back Alex Sandro.

Manchester United have been searching for a left-back since summer, and now seem to be closely monitoring Alex Sandro. After seeing a bid for Leighton Baines rejected in the summer, United now seem to be switching their targets, which Everton fans will be delighted to hear.

Whilst Patrice Evra's performances this season have shown he is still a hugely important player to the club, it hasn't stopped Moyes scouring the market for another left-back. Alexander Buttner is the current back-up to Evra but clearly isn't rated highly enough to be his long-term successor.

Evra's contract is up at the end of the season, and may well move on. There is reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain and former club Monaco. In the meantime, Brazilian international Alex Sandro has caught the eye of Moyes. The defender is only 22-years-ol and would provide a good investment for the future. Something United fans were worried about when they were chasing Baines was the fact he is turning 29 in December, and wouldn't represent a great value for money.

Alex Sandro has been at Porto for two years having joined from Uruguayan side Deportivo Maldonado. However he was only placed their by his investors who put him there to hold his registration rights. The Brazilian is a pacy, attacking full-back, much like Baines. According to The Express Manchester United will go head-to-head with Inter Milan in the race for his signature, although Inter have already had a £12.5 million bid turned down for the player.

United have also again been linked with Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno. The Daily Mail report that he is being tracked by Chelsea and Real Madrid too, and has a buyout clause of £25 million. Chelsea see him as the long-term replacement to Ashley Cole. Either way the fact United are being linked with plenty of alternatives to Baines will please Everton fans.

Would Alex Sandro be a good signing for United?
