Tottenham latest: Townsend on Tromso, former chairman dreams of Ferguson appointment

Some of the stories related to Tottenham Hotspur on this Thursday evening

Winger Andros Townsend believes that Tottenham have enough to deal with Tromso in tonight’s Europa League match in Norway.

Tromso have an artificial pitch and Spurs go into the game on the back of a heavy defeat last weekend but Townsend told the club’s website that the side has enough to pass tonight’s test.

He said: ‘Their synthetic pitch is the main worry but we’re footballers, we’re all professionals so it’s something that we can deal and hopefully we can get the three points.

‘We’re just looking to go out and win the game and win it comfortably and hopefully put ourselves in good spirits come United on Sunday.’

Former manager George Graham has told TalkSport that Sunday’s clash with Manchester United in the Premier League isn’t a must win game despite Spurs sitting in ninth place in the Premier League table.

Graham said: ‘I don’t think anyone expected them to win the Premier League this year and they are only a couple of points behind fourth spot at the present time. So, when people are saying the United game is a must-win, I don’t agree with that.

‘It is going to take time. Bringing in half a team at the same time, it is going to take time for those players to settle in, and that is the problem they have got.’

Former Chairman Lord Sugar would like former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson to be appointed manager of the club, and for Andre Villas-Boas to be shown the door.

He told TalkSport: ‘The formation that AVB plays, I don’t understand at all. I put my hands up, I am no great football expert, but I don’t understand it at all.

‘My dream would be that my good friend Sir Alex Ferguson will get itchy feet in about a year or so and decide he wants to get back into management and maybe bring his wonderful wife down to London and manage our team.’
