Teenage prospect Jonathan Tah has agreed an extension to his current deal with Hamburg.
Jonathan Tah is one of the brightest young prospects in German football, and has been widely linked with a move to a top European club over the last couple of months.
The teenager had a contract to take him up to 2016 with the Bundesliga side, but the club have confirmed that Tah has extended his deal for an additional two years to take him up to 2018.
"We are glad to be able to tie Jonathan - who has come through the ranks here - to the club long term,” sporting director Oliver Kreuzer told the team’s official website.
“We have followed his positive development closely and wanted to keep him at the club for the long term.”
Tah said he was very happy to extend his deal with Hamburg.
“I am delighted in the trust the club has shown in me,” the versatile defender said.
“I always wanted to stay and play here. I am still at the start of my career and want to improve every day, so I am delighted that the club have offered me a chance to do so.”
Tah has starred for the Germany under-17 side over the last 12 months, making 13 appearances, while he broke into the Hamburg senior set-up at the start of this season.
After making his debut earlier this term, Tah has played nine times for the Bundesliga club and has already become an important player for Bert van Marwijk’s men.
Premier League sides will surely continue to keep tabs on the athletic defender, but is seems that Tah will continue his development in Germany for the time being.
