Deng, 28, is an avid Arsenal fan and took time out from the NBA season to share his thoughts on Arsenal's season so far, which has obviously exceeded expectations with the side currently sitting top of the Premier League table.
“I’ve watched a lot of games this season, and I’m really proud of the guys. I still think we need one more striker, but we’re in a good position for sure. The Premier League is so different this year though, normally having Manchester United so dominant as well as Chelsea, who are still up there. But now you have teams who can beat anyone, it’s random!
“Look at Southampton, when I watch them play it’s almost like a basketball press offence! They just chase every ball – a bunch of players all the same size hunting like a pack of wolves! It’s really exciting, but to win the league, and be as dominant as they used to be, I think Arsenal need one more striker.”
It seems most people agree with Deng, particularly Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis, who recently said that Arsenal have to buy a new striker in the January transfer window. Nicklas Bendtner seems set for the exit, and whilst Theo Walcott or Lukas Podolski could fill in up front, it seems the Gunners are intent on bringing a natural striker to the club.
