AVB on the brink as Tottenham move to front of Shaw queue

All the morning news and gossip from White Hart Lane.

Andre Villas-Boas is on the brink of losing his job at White Hart Lane - according to several rumours this morning.

After his Spurs side were spanked 6-0 by Manchester City on Sunday questions began to be asked over his suitability for the role as Head Coach at White Hart Lane.

The home defeats to West Ham and Newcastle have also show the potential limitations to his managerial methods.

Tottenham spent a whopping £110.5 million in the summer yet still sit way off the Premier League title race. Fans have also been left perturbed by the unimaginative and often boring style of play AVB has implemented.

Watch this space, as his job continues to look increasingly at risk.

Jermain Defoe has reportedly agreed a January move to MLS outfit Toronto FC. Toronto, managed by former Spurs defender Ryan Nelsen, have a designated player slot open after the retirement of former Italian international Alessandro Nesta.

They have reportedly agreed to sign him up to a £90k-a-week deal that will see him arrive in the winter for a £6 million fee.

He will speak to England manager Roy Hodgson before making a decision on any deal.

Spurs have competition for the services of Swedish youngster Valmir Berisha - dubbed the next Zlatan. He starred for his nation at the recent under-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates - where Sweden reached the semi-finals.

But Spurs have competition from Celtic, Sunderland and Liverpool for his services - according to the player.

Tottenham have reportedly moved ahead of Chelsea in the pursuit of Luke Shaw. The Southampton full-back has been in stunning form this season and has attracted the interest of several big Premier League names.

However it appears that Spurs are now in the front-seat, as they chase a new left-back this winter.
