Manchester City latest: Huge boost as Kompany returns; boss dismisses 'keeper talk

Vincent Kompany PL Trophy

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City have received a huge injury boost as Vincent Kompany returned to first-team training earlier today.

The Blues were preparing for their Champions League match against Viktoria Plzen tomorrow evening, and while the Belgian defender is unlikely to be risked then, Manuel Pellegrini could have his skipper back sooner than first thought.

Kompany has been out with a thigh injury, and while City have swept aside any Etihad visitors it has been a different story on the road – something their captain can play a big part in changing.

In other news, Manuel Pellegrini has dismissed reports linking Joe Hart with a loan move in January.

Reports suggested he could be sent to Stoke City with Asmir Begovic heading in the other direction. But the Chilean has quashed the suggestion.

There is a lot of news about six or seven goalkeepers that we want to buy but it is not true,” Pellegrini told the BBC.

There is no chance that Joe Hart could go out of this squad in January.”

And as swiftly and categorically as that, the Blues boss rendered any future headlines suggesting similar futile.

That does not mean they will stop though….
