CONFIRMED: Chelsea line-up for Basel clash - no Torres

Jose Mourinho has gone for an attack-minded side as he aims on returning to West London with maximum points from the club's Champions League match.

Having been defeated by FC Basel at Stamford Bridge in September, when an Oscar opener was canceled out by Mohamed Salah and Marco Streller late in the second half, Chelsea may very well be on a revenge mission in Switzerland this evening, Tuesday, when they take on the RotBlau.

Chelsea fans may have been expecting Fernando Torres to be on the team-sheet as the Spaniard posted numerous pictures and videos of his gym motivation, getting himself match fit so that he can play a key part in what is a highly-congested period of fixtures for the Blues.

However, Torres is on the bench, as Cameroon hotshot Samuel Eto'o is preferred.

Jose Mourinho's rearguard has a familiar feel with mainstay Petr Cech guarding the net, English duo John Terry and Gary Cahill providing an immediate shield, with Branislav Ivanovic and Cesar (Dave) Azpilicueta playing right back and left back, respectively.

John Obi Mikel anchors the midfield to allow Frank Lampard and Ramires liberty, while goal-scoring and creative attackers Oscar and Willian support Sam up top.

Juan Mata, like Torres, is on the bench.

Chelsea starting XI: Cech; Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Azpilicueta; Mikel, Lampard; Ramires, Oscar, Willian; Eto'o.

Subs: Schwarzer, Cole, Mata, Hazard, De Bruyne, Schurrle, Torres.
