Transfer Bin: Arsenal to sign Ciprian Marica... again

A quite ridiculous rumour concerning Arsenal has resurfaced.

Welcome to the Transfer Bin, where the worst rumours in the football world are addressed and the perpetrators named and shamed.

And this is a familiar one which we really thought we had seen the back of. Ciprian Marica to Arsenal.

The 'news' is being reported by The Metro - who write quite ridiculously he is an alternative to Karim Benzema and Christian Benteke.

The Mail on Sunday also reported the claims in their 'Grapevine' column

Let's go back in time for a moment. Marica was originally linked to Arsenal back in August, while a free agent having been released by Schalke, with his agent claiming the Gunners were interested.

Action from the club? None. In fact no club moved to sign him before the close of the transfer window.

So in early September the same quotes from Marica's agent began circling, with national papers picking them up and reporting them as current news, even despite them being word for word the same statements which were commented in August. In our opinion Arsenal were never even interested.

Marica eventually saved us all from the dull saga by signing for Getafe, and made no comments about being linked to Arsenal. In fact he went onto state he liked Getafe because there was little pressure at the Spanish club, an illustration that he was never a good fit for Arsenal anyway.

So now he is linked with Arsenal again? Really? Please spare us.

The striker has just one goal in his six La Liga games so far, and if Arsenal did not sign him on a free transfer, why would they move for him now when they have to pay for him?

It's just ridiculous and the papers are insulting the intelligence of Arsenal fans, or football fans in general if they expect anybody to believe such rubbish.

Rubbish rating: Absolute pile of steaming rubbish!
