Some of the key stories connected to Liverpool Football Club this Monday evening
Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique is set to be out for ten weeks after undergoing surgery on a knee problem.
Enrique last played as a second-half substitute against Fulham in a 4-0 win against the Cottagers at Anfield two weeks ago having tried to recover from a knee problem but an operation was deemed necessary.
On the club’s website it says: ‘Enrique is expected to return to full training in around 10 weeks’ time.’
The 17-year-old has been dubbed the ‘mini Messi’ and is also attracting interest from Manchester United, with scouts of both clubs said to be present for the Dundee United’s 4-1 win over Partick Thistle. The club are said to be after around £6m for the player.
Another rumoured transfer target for the Reds is Atletico Madrid’s Koke. Their interest, along with that of Manchester United’s in the 21-year-old has been widely reported, but now Serie A side AC Milan have entered the race for the player according to TalkSport.
Brendan Rodgers has said he will look closely at Saturday’s Merseyside derby which finished in a 3-3 thriller against Everton.
Liverpool equalised late on in the game to snatch a point, but having let a lead slip twice, Rodgers wants to make sure Liverpool hold onto those leads in the future.
He told the club’s website: ‘When you’re in front of course you want to be better.
‘But we’ll look at the aspects and analyse parts of the game in that second half. We didn’t pass the ball well enough and our positioning maybe didn’t allow us to do that.
‘But I’ll also go away looking at my team and thinking again that we’ve taken another step forward in our mentality and our quality.’
