As the Champions League is heating up this week and Premier League and Bundesliga clubs go head-to-head, the German media interest in English football is rising.

More then 100 journalism outlets wrote about this weekend’s Premier League match day – an unusually number in Germany, with Champions League group opponents from the Bundesliga teams gaining the most traction.

The well-respected German football magazine kicker wrote that Bayern Munich’s opponent Manchester City are 'hungry'.

They started with a bombshell: 'The disaster for Tottenham took 13 seconds after its start. Goalie Lloris probably looked closely at Sunderland keeper Boruc… Jesus Navas thanked him for that and made the goal for the lead. Negredo then put his technical ability to the test with a scissors kick.'

The Bavarian daily Suddeutsche Zeitung thought it was a 'humiliation'.

The Manchester United draw at Cardiff City was not that special for the Red Devils heading to Germany for Wednesday game. Kicker headlined 'Man United botched rehearsal for Leverkusen game.'

Suddeutsche Zeitung wrote as well about the Arsenal versus Southampton match 'Arsenal ice cold: Gunners utilise gaffe'.

And the regional newspaper Rheinische Post from Dusseldorf thought about Arsenal’s weekend game: 'Only the performance of Mesut Ozil could currently cause concern […]. While compatriot Mertesacker organised his defense perfectly,' the German attacking midfielder seemed lost on the pitch, except his two fine passes.
