Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is adamant the Manchester United man should have been red carded.
Manchester United's Wayne Rooney ensured he stayed in the headlines by not only kicking out at an opponent, but tweeting about how he was hard done by to be criticised for it.
We wonder then, how he will react to former opponent Jamie Carragher's Sky Sports analysis of the incident against Cardiff City.
Carragher was asked point blank what he thought of the incident, and offered a curt response:
"You say the Rooney booking it should have been the Rooney red card. It's a sending off.
"I think he's very fortunate to get away with this one. Does the referee bottle it? Is it because Wayne Rooney is high profile? It's a red card."
Gary Neville was a little less harsh on his old teammate, simply offering that 'some decisions go your favour'. Neville did add that he felt Gary Medel should have been sent off for a 'slap' on Marouane Fellaini.
