Tottenham weekend round-up: 'Only thing I can say is sorry' - AVB after City mauling

All the news and gossip from Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur have been thoroughly spanked today by a rampant Manchester City at The Etihad Stadium.

Goals from Jesus Navas (2), Sandro (OG), Sergio Aguero (2) and Alvaro Negredo did the job for the home side - and AVB had this to say after the thrashing.

“We’re extremely disappointed. It’s difficult to find an explanation for a result like this. Everything went wrong for us, going from being one of the best defences in the country to suffering six goals in a fixture. The only thing I can say is sorry. It’s a very poor result, not to our level."

Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle has ripped into the performance whilst acting as pundit on Sky Sport:

"Tottenham are too slow, too predictable and lacking a creator but the spirit will have to be looked at as well as they are under pressure - though not to win the Premier League as they are clearly not ready for that."

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has had a little fun at Spurs fans expense. The rival stopper stated on his official Facebook page:

"Wonderful scenes at The Etihad..."

Probably not news Spurs fans wanted to hear.

Argentine midfielder Diego Perotti is being linked with Tottenham Hotspur today.

The Sevilla talent has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane in the past … with a bid of £8 million reportedly made last summer.

And he is open to a move in January:

"I've not been playing well recently and I need to find my best form, but something could happen. A transfer is definitely possible in the winter market."

Arsenal and AC Milan have also been historically linked.

Spurs will receive £2 million extra for the sale of Steven Caulker if Cardiff City avoid relegation.

Cardiff paid Spurs £8.5 million for the player in the summer - so it would go up to £10.5 million making him the Welsh clubs record signing ahead of Gary Medel.
