Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho is hot property in the French media after his two goals against Ukraine last week.
He was a guest on television station BeINsport over the weekend, and quizzed on who he would vote for in the Ballon d'Or awards.
Sakho does not actually receive a vote, only managers and captains of their respective football associations do, but he offered his response regardless.
And it was not what the French public may have wanted to hear, with their star player Franck Ribery hotly tipped for the award.
Nor was his response the same as Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, who revealed he voted for his Anfield teammate Luis Suarez to win the prestigious award.
Sakho instead says he would go along with the huge momentum pushing former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo for the award.
He said: "I would vote for Cristiano Ronaldo. He's a top athlete, football player. Cristiano and his statistics, they are really impressive. After - my heart vote, it is for Ribery."
It's hard to argue with either pick really, but Gerrard may have to get him to toe the Liverpool line in future - and get him to praise his teammate instead.
After all, if Suarez can achieve the greatest individual honours in football at Liverpool, surely that's even less reason for him to want to move on, right?
