New Barca prodigy makes his debut in Messi's absence

Spanish winger Adama Traore, 17, is eighth youngest player to pull on the famous red and blue.

Barcelona have a history of producing world class players from their famed La Masia academy, with stars such as Lionel Messi, Cesc Fabregas and Andres Iniesta all graduates currently starring for the Spanish champions.

Well on Saturday the latest starlet destined for the top announced himself to the world. 17-year-old Spanish born Malian Adama Traore became the eighth youngest player ever to debut for Barcelona, despite having started the season in the Catalan's youth team. Such is the winger's promise that the youngster has skipped onto the fringes of the first team squad, presumably a move accelerated by Messi's recent injury.

With Barca comfortably leading 4-0 over Grenada on Saturday, Traore was given some game time, coming on for Brazilian superstar Neymar in the 81st minute. He went on to impress with some mazy dribbles, also registering a shot in the few minutes he was on the pitch.

The club obviously have plenty of talent on their books already with Neymar, Pedro, and Alexis Sanchez all first team regulars. It will be interesting to see what the next twelve months hold for Traore, and whether he can build on his potential and join the list of club legends that have graduated from the Barca academy.
