After their impressive – and much needed – victory over Arsenal prior to the international break, United must ensure they maintain their momentum at the Cardiff City Stadium this afternoon. But it is a ground that has already proved to be the downfall of their “noisy neighbours”, and David Moyes will be taking nothing for granted against Malky Mackay’s men.
This is the first competitive fixture between the two sides since 1975, and their first top-flight encounter since 1962. If form is in any way relevant with a 40-year gap, then United will take heart from the fact they have won their last four encounters with the Bluebirds.
If Cardiff can win this afternoon, it will be the first time they have recorded consecutive home wins in the top flight since the year they last met United in that division.
What do you think the result will be this afternoon?
