Chelsea legend skies a penalty, West Ham ex one of four sent off in Turkish drama

Didier Drogba sent his penalty flying over the crossbar while Manuel Da Costa, formerly of West Ham, was sent off for a foul on Drogba.

Roberto Mancini has had a very interesting start to life in Turkey with Galatasaray - and last night was possibly the most interesting of all.

If not bizarre.

We had three goals, two penalties, 12 yellows and four red cards in a game that Gala won 2-1 at the Turk Telekom arena against Sivasspor.

And there were some familiar names amongst it all.

Galatasaray won 2-1 with goals from Burak Yilmaz and Selcuk Inan enough to outdo the goal scored by Algerian forward Rafik Djebbour.

But the home side did see Dany Nounkeu sent off in the 21st minute. However Roberto Carlos managed Sivasspor had it worse - they had three men sent off in this pulsating fixture.

Umit Kurt was first, and former Roma full-back Cicinho was next in the referee’s book.

And in between came Manuel Da Costa seeing his marching orders - for a foul on Didier Drogba.

Drogba wriggled free on goal and the former West Ham defender lunged desperately, and was unlucky not to get the ball as he sneaked a tackle from behind.

It was Da Costa’s second red card of the season and it gave substitute Drogba a chance to get his name on the score-sheet.

But what happened next was a real shocker from the Ivorian - as he blazed his attempt about three metres above the crossbar.

Here are the highlights from a truly made game…
