Vitesse Arnhem went in today’s game against Go Ahead Eagles no longer top of the table after being knocked off their perch by perennial powerhouse Ajax on Saturday.
So they knew the importance of today’s game - and so did the Chelsea loanees at the club apparently.
The Vitesse line-up today had a total of three Chelsea based players on show from the start - while Christian Atsu made an appearance from the bench.
But it was Chelsea players who took Vitesse back to the summit of the Eredivisie.
Lucas Piazon bagged the opening two goals of the game to take his tally for the season to seven - although he was afforded the opportunity to strike two from the penalty spot.
The goal frim Gael Kakuta was far more impressive.
He ran on to an attempted through ball, tricked the defender before gliding through and finishing with ease.
“I don’t dream about Chelsea any more – I used to, now I know better. I hope I can join a club like Vitesse next season, where I can play every week.”
Indeed the Frenchman will be hoping to sign a permanent deal with the Dutch title challengers as soon as possible, as it appears he no longer has the desire to make it at Chelsea after only making six first-team appearances since he arrived at Chelsea controversially in 2009.
But he took this goal with real aplomb - and that dream move to Vitesse might just be around the corner…
