The chances of Chelsea signing Mario Balotelli seem to have decreased after Jose Mourinho rejected the suggestion in a press conference.
The enigmatic hitman only has three league goals to his name this term and has been substituted early on several occasions after lifeless performances.
Off the field, Balotelli has been making the wrong kind of headlines and his agent Mino Raiola has suggested that press intrusion may force his client to leave Italy.
Mourinho, who worked with Super Mario at Inter, has spoken of his admiration for the marksman, prompting speculation that the Blues may swoop.
According to the Corriere dello Sport, Milan had even named their price of around £25m and were ready to let him leave, but Mourinho has quashed that talk.
"Mario plays for Milan," the Portuguese manager told journalists, reported by Sportmediaset. "He is doing well and I hope he will stay there for a long time."
Whether Mourinho's comments can be taken at face value remains to be seen and if Milan continue to struggle they may miss out on Champions League qualification, surely forcing Mario to leave in the summer.
