There was a more low-key North London derby on Saturday morning, with Tottenham ultimately victorious.
The win was Tottenham under-18s’ first in five matches. And in a game that was about so much more than just three points, it was clear they intended to end their poor recent form by doing everything they could to beat their fiercest rivals.
Two goals from Will Miller, one from Cameron Carter-Vickers and an own goal were enough to beat the Gunners, whose consolation strikes came from Jack Jebb and Jamal Raage.
The result may not have registered in the consciousness of as many fans as the senior derby does. But you can rest assured the Tottenham boys will be enjoying their evening after an impressive 90 minutes.
Arsenal’s under-18s, on the other hand, will be nursing their wounds, taking some comfort in the fact that the men they aspire to replace strengthened their grip at the top of the Premier League table.
