CONFIRMED: West Ham & Chelsea line-ups – Cole and Mata benched

Here is how West Ham United and Chelsea will line-up for this evening’s match at Upton Park:

West Ham starting XI: Jaaskelainen, Demel, O’Brien, Collins, Tomkins, Collision, Noble, Downing, Morrison, Nolan, J Cole

Subs: Adrian, McCartney, Jarvis, Maiga, Taylor, Diame, C Cole

Chelsea Starting XI: Cech, Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Lampard, Ramires, Oscar, Mikel, Hazard, Eto’o

Subs: Schwarzer, Cole, Essien, Willian, Mata, Schurrle, Ba

Given that Liverpool dropped points earlier today and Arsenal and Southampton are playing each other this afternoon, Chelsea have the chance to narrow the gap at the top of the table with a win over West Ham. But that will be easier said than done.

Despite the Hammers’ poor recent form, if they can’t get themselves up for this match something is very wrong. They need only look back to last season’s corresponding fixture for inspiration.

In the 100th meeting between the two clubs in all competitions, Jose Mourinho will have to do without Fernando Torres, although Ashley Cole is available after a rib injury kept him out of England action.

The Hammers are without long-term absentee Winston Reid, and have question marks over the fitness of Razvan Rat who has not made the match-day squad.
