War of words between Boreham Wood and Carlisle after FA Cup fixture

FA Cup

Following the FA Cup replay on Tuesday night Carlisle United have complained about Boreham Wood.

On Tuesday Carlisle United beat Boreham Wood in an FA Cup 1st round replay. The game finished 2-1 after the Cumbrians scored two late goals.

Shortly after the game Carlisle United alleged the Southern side of trashing their dressing room, including Boreham Wood have issued an explanation on their website, stating that the accusations have no foundations.

Boreham Wood have said that the story has been created out of nothing by the local media who for some reason were invited into the away dressing room after the Conference South side had left. They have stated that claims or 'urine' on the floor was in fact orange juice which a player had kicked over after being disappointed with the Carlisle players reaction to the last minute winner.

Carlisle chairman John Nixon has accepted the wrong conclusions were made. However Boreham Wood want a written apology that is made public, and a unequivocal retraction of the accusations.

Boreham Wood's full statement makes quite an interesting read and it certainly is a shame that such a great effort by the Conference South side has been marginally overshadowed by such an event.
