Jose Mourinho still wants to sign Robert Lewandowski, according to reports.

Fresh reports from respected Spanish newspaper El Confidencial claim Chelsea are back in the hunt for Robert Lewandowski.

They claim to have unearthed the news while investigating Real Madrid's own chase of the striker.

While the player himself indicated he had made his mind up on a move to Bayern Munich last month, it is claimed once again there are doubts on the part of Bayern boss Pep Guardiola.

The paper write: "Real Madrid returned to move, as it did last May, and found a new enemy in the race to sign the Borussia Dortmund striker. We talk about Chelsea of Jose Mourinho. The English team has made a proposal to the striker, whose contract ends on June 30.

"Florentino Perez still maintains the hope of receiving a call from the agent of the Polish. Mourinho has made him one of his priorities and is willing to put a lot of money on the table to achieve the goal."

Lewandowski scored four goals in one game against Mourinho's Real Madrid in last season's Champions League semi-final.

Mourinho is said to have approached the player last summer, but Dortmund have always maintained their stance of being unwilling to sell, even in January despite him being able to walk away on a free transfer next summer.

Bayern remains his most likely destination, but perhaps this one is not quite done yet.
