Manchester City have received a boost as they prepare for Sunday’s Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur, with the Mirror reporting that booth Matija Nastasic and Fernandinho are fit to return.
City are still without Vincent Kompany but the double boost is much needed considering the Blues’ last league outing was a 1-0 loss away to Sunderland.
In Sky Sports’ build-up to the match, they claim – somewhat unsurprisingly – that Manuel Pellegrini’s men are relying on their home form to keep them in the title race. And they will hope to keep that going against Andre Villas-Boas’s men.
With City free-scoring at home, and Tottenham one of the tightest defensive units in the top flight, it will be interesting to see which side ends the day victorious.
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has plumped for a 3-1 home win, although Spurs fans will have other ideas.
As might Emmanuel Adebayor, who is reportedly in line for a return against his former club.
The London Evening Standard has published an interview with the Spurs boss, who said, “Our likely approach is to go with one up front.
“They are every near each other at the moment and it could be a possibility that even Ade could play that game.”
Was the manager merely playing mind-games, or could Adebayor make a surprise appearance?
One thing is for sure: if he pops up with the winner, put money on another full-pitch sprint and frantic celebration akin to his effort against Arsenal.
