Five 2013 fixtures to help Newcastle surge up the table

Alan Pardew's side sit ninth in the Premier League and have a great chance to end the year in the top six.

A season that almost ended with qualification for the Champions League was followed up with a damp squib that almost ended with relegation to the Championship, but Newcastle are well set to end their 2013 on a high.

They have a number of fixtures before the end of the year which they are highly capable of winning and putting themselves into the European hunt once again. Here they are.

Norwich (H) 23rd November – After their last home game where they beat Chelsea they should have no fears in picking up three points against the Canaries and their former manager Chris Hughton.

West Brom (H) 30th November – A week later and it’s the visit of another side who the Magpies should be fancying their chances against. Steve Clarke is doing a fantastic job with the Baggies after the departure of Romelu Lukaku but Pardew will think that there’s another win for the taking.

Southampton (H) 14th December – Saints have been this year’s surprise package but they may have run out of steam by this point. Either way, it’s another brilliant opportunity to pick up a win in front of the St James’ Park crowd

Crystal Palace (A) 21st December – The one away game in the five is the visit to Selhurst Park to take on the side currently bottom of the table. The Eagles will have a new man in charge but it may not stop them suffering another defeat to former player Pardew’s side.

Stoke (H) 26th December – Boxing Day sees them take on another struggling side in Mark Hughes’ Potters. After a solid start to his career at the Britannia, Hughes’ team have struggled in recent weeks and don’t particularly look like turning it around. Another brilliant opportunity for maximum points.
