Former Manchester United starlet to return for a club record transfer fee? Nope, we don't believe it either.
Welcome to the Transfer Bin, where the most outrageous transfer rumours are quickly dealt with and thrown into the bin…
The rumour mill has been working in full flow recently, and the newest two names picked out the hat were Paul Pogba and Manchester United.
According to The Guardian the Manchester club could pull out all the stops to bring their former player back to the club, either in January or in the summer transfer window. We on the other hand, just can’t see it happening.
I don’t think anyone will deny that letting the young and clearly talented midfield player leave for next to nothing was a huge mistake, and one that will continue to plague the minds of everyone connected to the club for the duration of his career.
The French midfielder was sick of being constantly overlooked and went off to chase first-team football, which at Juventus he duly got and has made a huge impact.
So, what makes this rumour ridiculous?
Well, let’s firstly look at the player’s club. Juventus are unlikely sellers of their young star and have touted as the long-term replacement for fans favourite Andrea Pirlo. He clearly is part of the long-term vision of Juventus, and have recently slapped a reported €40 million price tag on his head. His agent even claimed he is worth 200!
Next, there is the player himself. He has already seen the set-up and Manchester United, the way the club is run and thought nothing of walking away in pursuit of first team football. Manchester United is a huge club, and there are players around Europe that’d kill their own mother to have the chance of moving there but Pogba isn’t one of them, as he proved in the past.
And finally Manchester United themselves. I don’t think the owners and investors of the footballing giants will be particularly pleased about forking out a potential small fortune to bring back a player they lost for free, due to mismanagement and poor judgement.
All in all, I think the whole rumour is just a complete mess. I can’t see which one of the parties would be pushing for this deal to go ahead, certainly not for the price-tag mentioned.
Paul Pogba is one of the most promising midfielders in the Europe, and he would be first choice at Old Trafford but whilst he has it good in Turin, I think he’ll stay there.
Rubbish Rating: 4 star rubbish.
