Arsenal's Champions League match v Marseille just got even easier

Arsenal have been given a huge injury boost ahead of their Champions League tie with Marseille next week, who are left with an increasingly uphill challenge.

Arsenal face Marseille in the Champions League next week in an encounter they are expected to win, and win well.

The French side have lost every single game in the competition to date, with Arsenal winning 2-1 in France back in September.

An Arsenal win would apply huge pressure on both Napoli and Dortmund going into the remaining game - and could even see them qualify if the Italians win in Germany.

Marseille's away form has seen them concede six goals in two games in the competition, and facing Arsenal they are really up against it.

That task has become even more difficult now, with the news star winger Andre Ayew has been injured on international duty, and will miss next week's game.

Ayew, is a left winger who has provided Marseille's big threat in the competition next season. He has scored two goals in the Champions League this year, both coming in the last two matches, and also has one assist.

Playing for Ghana in midweek against Egypt he suffered a torn meniscus in his knee and faces two months out after undergoing a small operation, which is scheduled for Monday.

Ayew had four goals and three assists in total this season, last campaign scoring 12 and providing five assists.

Arsenal's fixture is not a foregone conclusion, as no game is at this level, but it sure got a whole lot easier heading into next week.
