Welcome to new HITC Sport feature 'The Transfer Bin', where the very worst rumours of the day are highlighted and torn apart.
Now for today's entrant: 'Julio Cesar to Arsenal'
"Arsenal have been put on red alert after QPR admitted goalkeeper Julio Cesar can go for free in the January transfer window."
That's all well and good but Arsenal have moved on, and there is nothing in the move for Cesar either.
Arsenal in the summer appeared a fairly logical destination for Cesar, offering Champions League football and with doubt over their goalkeeping position.
The Gunners have since placed their faith in Wojciech Szczesny and even offered him a bumper new contract. Signing Cesar to drop him now would be illogical.
Arsenal do not need Cesar as back-up either, with Viviano loaned in for the entire season to compliment Fabianski as Szczesny understudy.
That sort of role would be no use to Cesar, who is still Brazil's number one despite not featuring all season for QPR.
He needs to move somewhere he can play regularly and hone his match sharpness ahead of the tournament in his homeland next summer.
Both sides of this one just don't add up, and it appears to us The Metro are simply using previous Arsenal interest in the goalkeeper to juice up a story. Time to move on.
