Townsend focused on Tottenham as City boss rules Spurs out

All the morning news from White Hart Lane on the 20th November 2013.

Andros Townsend, who was one of the few bright sparks in the England performance v Germany last night, has stated that he has not even begun to think about the World Cup yet.

He said to Sky Sports:

"I have had a good start to my international career, but I think it is too soon to start talking about Brazil. We have got six/seven months of club form now, I have got to keep playing well for my club for six months then hopefully I can secure my place on the plane."

Manuel Pellegrini of Manchester City has ruled Spurs out of the title race - despite the fact City currently sit in eighth position.

He also ruled out Liverpool:

“The Premier League is very close this year. There are six clubs challenging, with very little difference between one team and another. We have a lot of points to fight for, and I think at the end it will be between Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City.”

Spurs take on City this Sunday.

In case you missed it, Tottenham have been dealt an injury boost - after it was revealed the ankle injury suffered by Christian Eriksen on international duty is not as serious as first feared.

The Dane came off against Norway and the original fear was that he could miss up to a month of the season.

However a Spurs statement indicates no rupture to ligament and a ‘shorter period of recovery’ for the former Ajax star.
