Serie A sides feature along with Chelsea and Tottenham.
The Belgian midfield anchor has recently spoken of his preference to join a ‘big club’. Here's a look at 5 possible destinations.
The highly valued midfielder has reportedly been put up for sale for around €30 million and now the midfielder has made his actions clear by citing a move away from Russia, and preferably to the Premier League.
He told Nieuwsblade: "Indeed, I hope a big club (comes for me) I also see that my teammates at teams likeChelsea or Manchester United play, but I did not do badly over there (Russia).
"There will come a day when one of those clubs will show interest and I can leave. My preference goes out to the Premier League. Not because half the national team is playing, but because competition is the most viewed."
The defensive midfielder has been the subject of much speculation from Premier League clubs and other clubs around Europe. So who has the best chance of signing the 24-year-old?
Manchester United – The long-term admirers of Witsel will definitely be interested, especially as they desperately look to improve their title bid this season. Manchester United signed team-mate Marouane Fellaini in the summer and could look to build up their international relationship at Old Trafford.
Chelsea – Another Premier League possibility could be to join up with team-mates Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne and Lukaku. The Belgium heavy Premier League side could welcome a high standard defensive midfield player to play alongside Ramires in their deep-lying midfield two.
Tottenham – The midfielder could interest Tottenham as they look to give into Moussa Dembele’s demands of playing a more attacking role in the future. A well-known figure to Dembele, a potential key partnership could be built in the middle of Tottenham’s midfield.
Real Madrid – The news that Sami Khedira is out for the rest of the season was a huge blow to the Spanish giants as they look to make-up ground on a Messi-less Barcelona for the La Liga title. Witsel would be an ideal replacement for the German.
Juventus – The news that Pirlo could leave Juventus in the next 12 months will leave a huge void in the Italian clubs midfield. The 34-year-old Italian maestro is reportedly looking for a last contract to dine out on, and Juventus could opt to look elsewhere. Witsel may not of a similar player to Pirlo but would still be incredibly effective in Serie A – the class of Pirlo may be something that is never replaced.
