Santi Cazorla: Wenger has given me freedom, on 'magic' Ozil

Cazorla Corner

Arsenal playmaker Santi Cazorla has praised boss Arsene Wenger.

Santi Cazorla is in South Africa with the Spanish international squad at present, and has given an interesting interview with newspaper El Pais about life at Arsenal.

Here are the highlights of what he has had to say:

On Arsenal's resurgence...

"We had to be more consistent and we are, this is a defect that we have corrected. The team is not so naive, we are committing fewer errors like last year, by forgetfulness or lack of concentration, and foolishly lost games but we have learned."

Premier League vs La Liga...

"It is more open. The Spanish League is between two, the English is more fun. That does not mean that the league is nicer to play, not better or worse, is another thing entirely. Now I'm having fun. And learning new things and that makes you grow."

On Arsene Wenger...

"Arsène is a reference. I can tell you that I learn every day from him. He is a different coach than I've had, but his philosophy is similar to Pellegrini in their idea that the team take control of the game through the ball and dominates the game. They have different methods but the idea is common. Football in England is less tactical, more open. Arsene has given me absolute freedom. Although listed to play a little left, let me go to the centre, changing positions, and makes me very happy."

On Mesut Ozil...

"He is something different, because he is pure talent, his has magic. It seems that he can change a game with a control, a single pass. We were surprised he came to Arsenal. For us it is a gift."

Can he replace Xavi for Spain...

"Replacing Xavi is not difficult, it is impossible, because he is unique. Just to be compared to him is a compliment but Xavi is unique and will not be replaced."
