Pressure is on Brazil for the World Cup, insists former Liverpool man

The host nation simply have to win next summer, ex-Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has claimed

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has claimed that Brazil are ‘clear favourites’ to win the World Cup next summer. Spain go to South America next summer looking to defend the trophy they won in South Africa in 2010.

However, the Napoli loanee has insisted that the hosts will face enormous pressure from fans to win the competition, leaving the door open for La Roja.

'Brazil are very clear favourites,' Reina has told reporters this week. 'They are playing at home, they are a strong team and the pressure will be on them. They are required to win the World Cup, because they are the best right now.'

The ex-Anfield man was talking after training at Soccer City in Johannesburg, where Spain will face South Africa just over three years on from winning the 2010 World Cup Final at the venue.

'It is an indescribable feeling to be playing on this pitch. Three years ago we experienced the best moment in the history of Spanish football.'
