In team news, Phil Jones has been injured with England – the 21-year-old suffered an abductor injury away on international duty this week and is now a doubt for United’s clashed with Cardiff in the Premier League and Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League. It is expected he'll be out for 10 days.
Tom Cleverley could get his ‘big chance’ to earn a 10th cap for England this evening in the three Lions’ friendly against Germany.
England take on Germany at Wembley this evening following their defeat to Chile last week. United stars Wayne Rooney, Tom Cleverley, Chris Smalling are all expected to feature.
France are also in action tonight in a crucial World Cup play off against Ukraine – Les Blues will try to overturn a 2-0 deficit suffered last week to qualify for Brazil 2014 next summer. Patrice Evra is expected to start for France.
United goalkeeper Anders Lendegaard has hailed coach Chris Wood as ‘world class’. The Denmark international has praised the Red Devils’ goalkeeper coach and former England stopper.
“It has been absolutely world-class,” Lindegaard told the club’s official website.
“There is not the slightest doubt about what he thinks is right, he does not doubt any of what he does, he just believes in himself 100 per cent. That really shows and it gives us goalkeepers a calmness.”
“He is very comfortable as a coach and as a person as well. I really enjoy working with him,” he added.
Meanwhile, another United coach and former player Phil Neville has spoken to the BBC about boss David Moyes’ impact on the club and described his new role under the former Everton boss as a dream come true.
In transfer news, The Mirror reports that five clubs are targeting a loan move for Wilfried Zaha in January – Newcastle, Swansea, Aston Villa, West Brom and Cardiff are all reportedly hoping to sign the United youngster on loan.
The same source also claims United will ‘battle’ to sign Alessio Cerci of Torino who is also reportedly a target for Arsenal and Liverpool in January.
United are also linked with a potential bid for Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria in January after being linked with the Argentine in the summer.
Finally, Chile star Alexis Sanchez is linked with a possible move to Old Trafford in January also, as well as summer target Cesc Fabregas and the same source claims Michael Carrick will sign a new two-year contract to remain with the champions.
