Liverpool latest: Reds urged to stop Lukaku, Nigerian transfer linked

Some news and rumours surrounding Liverpool Football Club this Tuesday evening

Liverpool legend John Aldridge has said that Liverpool will need to be aware of Romelu Lukaku in this weekend’s Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Saturday.

In his column for the Liverpool Echo, Aldridge has said highlighted the Everton forward – who is on loan from Chelsea - as the big danger man to Liverpool’s chances of a positive result.

He said: ‘To me, the key for Liverpool is finding a way to stop Romelu Lukaku. He’s the main threat they carry, and if you nullify him, I think you nullify Everton. Lukaku terrified Liverpool twice last season, whilst playing for West Brom. Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger will be well aware of the big Belgian’s abilities.’

Aldridge also said he would prefer to see Jose Enrique ahead of Aly Cissokho in the left-back role.

Liverpool have been linked with Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi, who has said he could see himself playing for the Reds according to a report in the Metro.

The 20-year-old – who played for Nigeria in their 2-2 draw with Italy at Craven Cottage last night – said: ‘I would jump at the chance to play in the Premier League.

‘Liverpool? They are a huge team and are attractive to any footballer. I could see myself playing for them.’

Lazio are reported to want £6m for the player.

Liverpool are also rumoured to be in a battle with five other teams, including Premier League rivals Arsenal to try and sign Olympiacos Konstantinos Mitroglou according to TalkSport.

The 25-year-old has scored 17 goals in 14 games and is believed to valued at around £7m.

It has been announced that Liverpool’s FA Youth Cup third round tie with Blackpool will take place on Wednesday 18th December at Bloomfield Road.
