The Express have claimed Dimitar Berbatov could become an unlikely summer target next for Barcelona when his contract expires next summer.
Anybody who has seen the 32-year-old's half-hearted performances for Fulham this season will realise just how improbable the idea of him playing for the La Liga champions seems.
So moving to Barcelona could not possibly happen, right?
Funnily enough, if it did - such a free transfer could end up being a stroke of genius. There is no doubting Berbatov's talent when on his game, evidenced by his 2011 hat-trick against Liverpool for Manchester United.
He brings big game and Champions League experience, and Barcelona's teammates would suit him down to the ground.
Playing alongside the likes on Neymar, Lionel Messi and Alexis Sanchez (usually off the bench no doubt), Berbatov would not be short on goalscoring opportunities, and have chances galore laid on a plate for him.
His lethal finishing abilities would surely resurface, and his motivation - seemingly lacking at Fulham at present, would be back.
Barcelona had brief success when they brought an ageing Henrik Larsson over from Celtic, and Berbatov could hope to have a similar short-term impact.
We certainly won't be putting money on a transfer happening, as the improbability outweighs the likelihood as Barcelona have superior options - but if it did, the Bulgarian would probably score a hatful.
