Julian Draxler, the €45m target of Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea, will most likely get his chance in Germany’s friendly against England.
A decent opportunity to show Premier League clubs and national manager Jogi Low that he still has it. After a downfall early in the season he tries to find his rhythm again playing great in Schalke’s two game winning streak in Bundesliga.
Draxler will be keen to show off his talent at Wembley in an interview leading up to the game, he said: “It's a very traditional stadium. We know about the legendary Wembley goal [1966 World Cup final]. It has always been a dream to play there […].”
The 20-year-old continued to talk about the different playing styles of England and Germany: “The last games of England I didn't see. But my opinion is that they work football and we play football (laughter).”
Draxler was then asked if Germany is playing more attractive football then their upcoming opponent. He said: “At the moment I would say yes, but if we lose against England you can say I was wrong (more laughter).”
Asked about Germany’s young prospects and if they are better young players than English ones, the midfielder said:
“We have a lot of good young players in Germany and we have a very good national team. In English football we see many good players - like Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey [Draxler is interrupted and told that Ramsey is Welsh]. (Laughs) Let's talk about Jack Wilshere…”
“For the starting XI, I think Wayne Rooney. I like him very much. Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard could play in every team in the world so why not for Germany? (Discussion in background with Schalke's press officer about goalkeeper Joe Hart, but opts for Bayern Munich's Manuel Neuer) OK, next question...”
