Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel admits he would welcome a move with open arms.
Two months ago we reported on Axel Witsel's possible interest in exploring a move away from Zenit St Peterburg in January or next summer, and he has now confirmed he wants out.
Zenit are not described as willing sellers, but would accept an offer of €30 million, Russian newspaper Izvestia reported.
Witsel has this week declared publicly for the first time he is open to a move away from Russia, and would like to play in the Premier League.
He told Nieuwsblade: "Indeed, I hope a big club (comes for me)"
"There will come a day when one of those clubs will show interest and I can leave.
"My preference goes out to the Premier League. Not because half the national team is playing, but because competition is the most viewed."
Tough tackling defensive midfielder Axel Witsel is exactly the type of player Jose Mourinho has been credited as looking for, as he seeks his modern day Claude Makelele.
Manchester United have had a long-standing interest in Witsel, but a move is now less likely they have signed Marouane Fellaini, who wants to play a similar role.
