Transfer Bin: Sergio Ramos to Manchester City

Ramos has again been linked with a move to the Etihad...but we can't see it happening.

Welcome to the transfer bin, where the most ridiculous transfer rumours are swiftly thrown into the trash…

Today’s offering comes from the Sunday People, which claims Manchester City will attempt to sign Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid.

The report claims that Carlo Ancelotti has left Ramos frustrated by playing him at right-back or as a midfield anchor; this despite the Spain international’s reported desire to play as a centre-back.

Well a quick look at shows Ramos has played at centre-back in all but two of his 14 appearances for Real to date this season. So that simply does not add up.

And it is not the only thing.

Speaking last month, Real president Florentino Perez told Spanish newspaper Marca that Ramos would never be sold by his current club.

To Sergio Ramos, I have much affection,” Perez said.

He will retire here. There are no offers for him because they know we will not sell him. We will deal with his renewal at the appropriate time.”

With his current contract running until the summer of 2017, there is no rush to offer the 27-year-old a new deal. And in truth, any rumours linking him to City appear just that…rumours.

Playing regularly, a hero at his club and a regular for his national team, there is no reason for him to leave.

Rubbish rating: Complete rubbish!
